Dark Skies – Tips to minimize night light pollution

More lighting does not provide us with more safety. Well designed lighting is safer.

Unshielded lighting makes it hard for our eyes to see. Better designed lighting is the safest way to go.

Energy is wasted when we over light and that burns fossil fuels. Go outside at night to see if you are lighting your neighbors home and the robin’s nest.

Look for 2700 Kelvin or less, 460 lm, 40 white, soft white bulbs. Stay away from bright white bulbs and fixtures that project light out and up.

Add motion sensors and shields to your lighting.
