At their Committee of the Whole meeting on January 14, 2020 the Village of Northbrook Board of Trustees voted to approve funding for a Sustainability Study. This study will evaluate Northbrook’s existing environmental conditions (a “baseline assessment”) and identify steps for the entire community (government, residents and businesses) to take to combat global warming and make the Village more resilient. The baseline assessment would also benchmark Northbrook against other comparable communities on such things as tree cover, recycling, energy use, etc.
GGN hopes that the results of this study will help us know how to focus our efforts in our goal to plant a tree canopy that will offset our carbon production as well as to know what other endeavors we should be undertaking.
GGN is excited to work in partnership with the Village to improve our local environment. We all need to work together to create change that will lead to a sustainable future for us and our children.
