One Person Makes a Difference

There is a wonderful mantra for working to reduce our carbon footprint, reliance on plastic, and our contribution to the landfills:

REFUSE, REUSE, RECYCLE

REFUSE comes first.  It should be everyone’s goal.  You can REFUSE by using reusable bags every time you shop, including reusable bags for produce in the grocery store.  You can REFUSE by telling your servers in a restaurant, “No straw please.”  You can REFUSE by turning off electricity and water when they are not in immediate use.  You can REFUSE by walking or biking whenever possible instead of driving.  What else can you REFUSE?  If every person would REFUSE two items every day for five years, what would the cumulative impact become?  Please REFUSE wherever possible.
